Big news from the IIHF – the governing body of international hockey has launched its own streaming platform, IIHF.tv, which will offer live streams of its events. We’ve prepared a guide on how to sign up for the service and watch World Championship games and other IIHF events live.

The launch of its own streaming platform is a major step for the IIHF. Until now, the federation had been working to provide free live streams of its events, including lower-division and junior World Championships, significantly contributing to the development and promotion of the game worldwide. However, the streams often suffered from low quality or other objective shortcomings.

Introducing the paid service IIHF.tv could help solve these issues once and for all, providing a full-quality user experience. For the IIHF, it could also represent an additional source of revenue that can be reinvested into its operations.

It’s important to understand that lower-division events are generally unprofitable for the IIHF and are subsidized through the profits from major tournaments like the World Championships and the Olympic Games. Establishing a paid streaming platform could be one of the steps toward better optimizing the federation’s financial resources.

How to Watch the IIHF World Championship Live

IIHF.tv covers the following events and content:

  • IIHF World Championships (Men’s, Women’s, U18, etc.)
  • Lower division World Championship tournaments
  • Highlight packages
  • Replays

It’s important to note that content availability may vary depending on the user’s location due to broadcasting rights.
